Etiquette For Table Games
Books and other reading materials can teach you many different skills and strategies about your favorite casino games but there are only few that can teach you real table game etiquette.
Table game etiquette is important especially if you are playing in casinos. Here are few things to remember:
1) Table Limits
All table games inside the casino have a placard that will tell players the maximum and minimum bets allowed at that table. At a blackjack table you will often times see rules of the game and the maximum and minimum bets as well. Some casinos have placed a color-coded placard on the table game that represents the denomination of the chips that tells the players the limit of the table as well.
2) Joining the Game
Before you seat yourself at any blackjack table know if that table is empty. Some players play more than one hand and an empty chair does not always mean that it is vacant. And lets say that the game is ongoing, as much as possible do not just sit at the table and enter the game. Let them finish with their round first before you try to join in.
3) Buying In
Before playing at any casino game, you should first convert your money into casino chips. Dealers are not allowed to accept cash from players. They can only accept chips. Place your cash on top of the table and ask for chips. While in the middle of the game, do not put your money on top of the table. After you win a game they will convert your chips back to cash.
4) General tips
Blackjack - players playing this game should make a hand signal if they want to stand or hit when they are in the middle of a shoe game.
Craps - players playing this game should avoid placing hands or leaning over the table area especially when the shooter is rolling the dice.
Hold your emotions. Remember that dealers are just messengers. If you are losing badly do not blame it on them or others. Do not give unsolicited advice to other players. If you get upset with other players, leave the game table. Limit your losses. Save some of your winnings. If you get tired, quit playing. Have fun but do not forget that chips are real money.
5) Comps
Ask the floor person to rate your game play politely. Never play at higher stakes just to qualify for comps. Ask the floor person for free meal comp, you will know if you are qualified. Do not demand for comps, ask politely.
